Savannah Celebrates Flannery O'Connor's 100th Birthday with Cake and Promenade

Savannah wrapped up the weekend-long celebration of Southern Gothic writer Flannery O’Connor’s centennial birthday with a party in Lafayette Square, site of the author’s childhood home.

From noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 23, the Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home hosted Flannery’s birthday party and Local Author Day, with more than 40 local authors selling their books, many local vendors, artist Panhandle Slim, Live Oak Library, Starlandia, Moon River Opera, Legacy Irish step dancing, and games like chicken cornhole.
